Funding Awarded to Loco Shed Echuca under the 'Living Heritage' grants program

Loco Shed Echuca Inc was awarded $190,000 for urgent conservation works to the Former Railway Engine Shed at Echuca. The building was erected in 1864, as an important part of Echuca’s railway complex, which was the busiest non-metropolitan station in Victoria during the nineteenth century. The building’s current condition makes it inaccessible to the public. This grant will help to repair water damage and install a new fire protection system, enabling the building to open to the public as a community space.

Campaspe Shire transfer land ownership to Loco Shed Echuca Inc.

Campaspe Shire Council has finalised the last step in transferring the land, which includes the heritage listed Echuca Loco on Sturt Street, to Echuca Loco Shed Inc. CEO Declan Moore said the land at 95 Sturt Street, Echuca, was owned by Council and the building owned by an incorporated community group, Loco Shed Echuca Inc. Council approved the transfer of the land to the group in late 2018 with the legal processes recently concluded.
